Let's discover the story of Rafael Postigo Pich, who has battled cancer for six months.

Rafa, as his family members call him, just turned 14 and is the youngest of 18 siblings.

In January, he posted a video in which he claimed to have Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer affecting the lymphatic system.

However, the disease brought him closer to God:

"Honestly, I love him very much now," he said in an interview with EWTN Notícias.

As he spoke of his relationship with Jesus, the teenager said his pain made him understand that the Lord's sacrifice was made out of love.

Rafa had his last chemotherapy session a few days ago, but he can't claim victory yet: in about two weeks, he will undergo further tests. But during these six months, despite his pain, Rafa never stopped attending Mass and receiving the Eucharist.

“I go to Mass every day and receive Communion. My mother, since I was very young, made me go to church every day, and, even if sometimes I didn't like her, in the end, you fall in love and it becomes normal, you like it. (...) Now I go to Mass and I feel at peace."

Above all, Rafa spoke of the importance of gratitude.

"You don't know what will come tomorrow."

Let's pray for Rafa's recovery!

Prayer to St. Peregrine for Rafa's recovery:

O great St. Peregrine, you have been called 'The Mighty, ' 'The Wonder-Worker, ' because of the numerous miracles you have obtained from God for those who have had recourse to you.

For so many years you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease that destroys the very fiber of our being, and who had recourse to the source of all grace when the power of man could do no more. You were favored with the vision of Jesus coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction. Ask of God and Our Lady, the cure of the sick whom we entrust to you.

(Pause here and silently recall the names of the sick for whom you are praying)

Aided in this way by your powerful intercession, we shall sing to God, now and for all eternity, a song of gratitude for His great goodness and mercy.

Amen.
