What Was Jesus' Real Name? It's Probably Not What You Think
Do you know what Jesus’ real name is? It may not be what you think it is!
On this episode of The Catholic Talk Show, Ryan Scheel, Ryan DellaCrosse, and Fr. Rich Pagano discuss the real names of God, Jesus and the apostles.
How interesting!
Here’s the answer in the video below:
What would the apostles and those alive during Jesus’ time actually have called him?
The Catholic Talk Show co-host Ryan Scheel explains, “They would not have called him Jesus. They would have called him ‘Yeshua.’
“Yeshua was actually a very common name at the time of the first century,” Scheel explains.
Fr. Rich Pagano responds, “Is that Jacob?”
Scheel then says, “In the New Testament of the Bible, Yeshua would be pronounced Jesus to us, but to everyone else, it’s Joshua.
“Jesus’ name would be more accurately translated into English as Joshua. But ‘Our Lord and Savior Josh sounds weird.'”
Fr. Pagano responds, “But that’s only because we’ve been saying Jesus for so long…I actually use Yeshua in my prayer all the time.”
