These are some great ways to share your Catholic faith with others!

On this episode of “The Catholic Gentleman,” John Heinen, Sam Guzman, and Devin Schadt discuss five common evangelization mistakes and how to avoid them.

1. Avoid Misrepresenting Christ and His Church

Learn to embrace humility and kindness in evangelization. “Knowledge puffs up our pride, but charity builds up,” Schadt says. Arguments and belligerence can repel rather than attract. Instead, represent Christ with patience and love.

2. Stand Firm in the Truth Without Being "Mr. Agreeable"

Fear of conflict can lead to agreeing simply to keep the peace. This approach can dilute the truth of the Gospel.

Schadt says it's important to balance standing firm with compassion.

“Jesus says, ‘He who is ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of him.’”

3. Engage Others Personally

Personal stories and experiences help you connect authentically with others. Guzman mentions that “sometimes questions are far more potent than answers.”

Share your faith journey and listen to others to build genuine relationships.

4. Overcome the Fear of Not Having All the Answers

It’s okay to admit when you don’t know something.

“If you don’t know the answers, they’re out there,” Schadt assures. He says this honesty can open doors for deeper conversations and mutual growth in faith and understanding.

5. Invite Others to Participate

Simple invitations can be powerful.

John challenges listeners to “invite somebody to Mass with you... it can be a co-worker, a friend, or even your Uber driver.”

He says these gestures can open hearts and minds to the beauty of the Catholic faith.

The gentlemen say that following these tips for evangelization will help you share the faith with love and authenticity!
