Millions of people have been touched by the wit, insight, and common sense of the great G.K. Chesterton. If you’re one of them, there’s still time to help his cause for canonization!
In 2013, the Diocese of Northampton in the U.K. officially started work on preparing for Chesterton’s cause for canonization. According to one blog, the initial report that will recommend proceeding or not is due in a few months.
Which means if you have been particularly touched by the life of Chesterton, or have even already started seeking his intercession, you still have time to share your story with the investigator.
The man in charge is Fr. John Udris, a spiritual director at St Mary’s College, Oscott, and he is seeking information on the following topics:
– How has Chesterton been an influence in your life, and in what way? (examples through personal testimony).
– Have you been seeking or sensing the intercession of Chesterton, and for how long has this been the case?
– Do you think it would be a good thing for the Church to open his cause now? Why?
If you have something to contribute, you can email your answers or story to Fr. Udris at chesterton@oscott.org.
If you’re looking for a way of donating to the cause, Brandon Vogt shared earlier this year that there is a team working to digitize absolutely everything Chesterton ever wrote, and are accepting donations to help pay for the effort. This work is important since the Church generally wants to be able to review everything a person wrote before canonizing them, and Chesterton wrote a lot!
