Is a simple "thank you" all you need for true joy? 😇
In this episode of “The Catholic Gentleman,” John Heinen, Devin Schadt, and Sam Guzman reveal three truths to help you live a happier, more purposeful life!
1) Gratitude Rewires Your Heart and Mind
Did you know that practicing gratitude can change your brain?
“Your brain is an organ and it’s looking for efficiency and the faster way,” Heinen explains. “So when you practice generosity and practice gratefulness or thanksgiving, your brain actually starts to rewire itself to experience that more readily.”
By consciously choosing to be thankful, especially for the small things, we train ourselves to see God's goodness in every part of our lives.
2) A Thankful Heart Reflects God’s Generosity
When we acknowledge that everything we have comes from God, our hearts become mirrors of God’s generosity.
"God is generous and when we refuse to be generous, we're closing ourselves off from this universal flow of generosity emanating from the heart of God," Sam shares.
Embracing a thankful heart allows us to participate in God's giving nature, opening us up to receive even more of His blessings.
3) Gratitude Draws God Closer During Life’s Trials
It’s easy to be grateful when life is smooth, but what about in suffering?
Schadt believes “the only way to truly be able to objectively and subjectively, from the heart, give thanks during tremendous suffering is if your perception of God is that He is a good Father… He wills it for your good.”
If you open your heart to His grace, even suffering can bring you closer to God.
The gentlemen say that embracing gratitude, even in life’s hardest moments, is a great way to reflect Christ's love to others!
