Wow! The Holy Spirit moves through this Bishop!

Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte stated that Catholic Church will eventually dissipate due to the clerical sexual abuse.

According to an article in Philippine Daily Inquirer, the president said “people would eventually forget about the Catholic Church because of its alleged abuses.”

Bishop Pablo Virgilio David of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kalookan in the Philippines provided an epic response, explaining that “a lot of people have said the same thing many centuries ago. Some have even tried to deliberately destroy the Catholic Church.”

Here’s the text of his response:

“REPOSTING FROM MARCH 2017:

THE CATHOLIC CHURCH: GONE IN 25 YEARS? (He said “passé in 30 years” on March 31, 2017.)

A lot of people have said the same thing many centuries ago. Some have even tried to deliberately destroy the Catholic Church.

Well, it appears that not even the sins and human weaknesses of her own members could destroy the Church, as long as we have the humility to admit such wrongdoings and do something to correct them, as Pope Francis is now asking us to do.

Ironically, it is when the Church behaves like a worldly empire that she becomes irrelevant. There have been times when she got diminished or reduced to a minority, as is already happening in some countries.

Strangely, it is when she gets marginalized, persecuted, or treated like a minority that the Church becomes even more alive and effective.

It is then that she is able to work like a mustard seed, or a little lamp in the dark, or a pinch of salt in a pot of stew, or a little leaven in a mass of dough.

She remains in existence, not because of us, or perhaps even in spite of us. Only the Holy Spirit keeps the Church, the Body of Christ, alive; I mean to say that in all humility.”

Wow! What powerful words!

Bishop David is right. Jesus said in Matt. 16:18, “You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.”

Most Blessed and Holy Mother Mary, please pray for our Church!
