Secret Pro-Life Film About Roe v. Wade Revealed to Be Filming, Stars Famous Actors
This is a bit unexpected.
There is a major pro-life film in production right now about the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade, in which the court ruled most legal restrictions on abortion to be unconstitutional.
Starring famous actors Jon Voight (Mission Impossible), Stacey Dash (Clueless), and Robert Davi (Goonies), the niece of Martin Luther King Jr. and pro-life leader Alveda King is the Executive Producer.
It’s been filming since June 15th and is scheduled to finish July 15th, but hasn’t gotten major publicity until an article by The Hollywood Reporter on July 3rd. It was kept mostly secret, using a pseudonym while filming, in order to avoid blowback.
And it has received a lot of blowback! Several sources are reporting that actors and people working on the set have quit and walked off set after realizing the pro-life message of the film, as well as due to pressure from outsiders.
Nick Loeb, who co-wrote the script and is co-directing with Cathy Allen, told The Hollywood Reporter a story in which a woman approached him during filming and asked if he was the director. “When I told her I was, she told me to go f*** myself. Then she threw her headset on the ground and walked off. I found out later she was our electrician.”
As word has gotten out about the film’s pro-life perspective, the film has also been kicked off of several of its filming locations in Louisiana.
The film has a Facebook page as well as a fundraising page, and hopes to be released to theaters this fall.
Here’s a video of an interview with Dr. King about the film:
