Popular Social Media Priest Father Goyo Hidalgo is Now Cancer-Free: 'Don't Lose Hope'

Popular social media priest Father Goyo Hidalgo announced in April 2024 that he was diagnosed with a life-threatening cancerous tumor.
ChurchPOP covered his diagnosis and invited readers to help in three ways: through strong prayer, asking for the intercession of Father Goyo's mother and future Saint Carlo Acutis, and offering Masses.
"I need strong prayer. The more the better. I believe in it. I believe in miracles," he said in April 2024.
This certainly proves the power of prayer!
The priest of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles who has more than 100,000 followers on X (Formerly Twitter) and almost 40,000 followers on Instagram, announced he is now cancer-free after several months of treatment.
"This year was wild. I got cancer. Six months of horrible chemo. Lost my hair. Never lost my peace or strength. Sense of humor intact. Today, last day, I’M CANCER FREE. I offered it all. And I did it all alone," Father Goyo wrote on X. "Don’t lose hope. You are stronger than you know. #HappyNewYear."

Father Goyo's cancer-free announcement generated a viral response from social media users.
As of this writing, his post received more than 1,000 comments, over 16,000 likes, and approximately 230,000 views.
Journalist and editor Elizabeth Scalia said, "It’s been a huge year for you! I’m grateful you made it through to the New Year! It must have made this Christmas extra meaningful for you!"
Father Goyo responded to Scalia, saying, "Well let me tell you, this Christmas was bad. I stupidly read the PET scan before Christmas and I read 'a new tumor.' I didn’t tell anyone but I was so anxious and then the doctor says, 'No. That’s just calcification. You are cancer-free.' I will never, ever read PET scans."

Father Goyo added in an X post that he still has several radiation treatments ahead of him.
