“God was preparing me so that I could achieve my goals.”

In an interview with CazéTV about her participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the gymnast commented, “God was preparing me so that I could achieve my goals.”

In her statement, Rebeca sang a portion of a song by Protestant singer Jessé Aguiar, which speaks of God's promises.

"I'm preparing you for a new time that's coming, for the beautiful story that you're going to play. Calm down, it's coming, I'm perfecting it and you'll see it."

"And that's clearly it," the gymnast continued. "He's doing amazing things that I could never have imagined. I wanted to be a medalist so badly, but the way it's happening, it's been more than I expected and I'm so proud."

In another interview after winning the silver medal in the vault, Rebeca commented that:

“If you ask Him [God] for a house, He will not give you a house, He will give you the opportunity to conquer it with your sweat, with your work, with your values and then you will conquer your house; so that you feel that it was not a thing of Him, it was yours and His.”
“So I say that this medal was not because I asked God for a medal, He gave me the opportunity to win it, I went through everything I had to go through, I worked, I sweated, I cried, I tried hard, I laughed, I had fun, I traveled... So I feel that I made this possible too and He was always there blessing me, protecting me and feeling proud of me, knowing that his servant was always giving her best.”
