Michigan Univ. Coach Defends Unborn on ESPN Amid Backlash: Abortion is “Life or Death” Issue
What a brave coach!
Michigan Wolverines head football coach Jim Harbaugh spoke at a pro-life event on July 17, resulting in backlash from pro-abortion advocates. The coach is a practicing Catholic and publicly lives his faith.
ESPN asked Harbaugh about the event in a recent interview.
“Why did you think that was important to do? Did you receive support/criticism after that?” the interviewer asks.
“Faith, family, football–those are my priorities,” Harbaugh responds.
“I just think that this issue of life–saving life–the abortion issue–is one that’s so big that it needs to be talked about. It needs serious conversation.”
“It’s a life or death type of issue,” he continued.
The interviewer then asks, “What would you do if a player or a female staff member of the Michigan football team came to you and said, ‘Coach, I respectfully disagree with your stance. Can we discuss it?”
“I’ve told [them] the same thing I tell my kids, boys, the girls, same thing I tell our players, our staff members. I encourage them if they have a pregnancy that wasn’t planned, to go through with it.”
“Let that unborn child be born, and if at that time, you don’t feel like you can care for it, you don’t have the means or the wherewithal, then Sarah and I will take that baby.”

On Tues., July 27 at Big Ten media days, Harbaugh also said that abortion is “the most horrendous thing I could possibly conceive.”
Pray for an end to abortion! 🙏🏻
