This is awesome! 👏

Billboard gave Mariah Carey the title “Queen of Christmas” in a recent headline, but the singer-songwriter rejected it in a BBC podcast.

The music and entertainment magazine says she earned the title due to her record-breaking Christmas songs, particularly “All I Want for Christmas is You.”

However, Carey says she does not deserve the title.

During BBC’s The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, host Zoe Ball gushes over the star’s “Queen of Christmas” title.

“I cannot even tell you how excited we are to have you on the show as the ‘Queen of Christmas,'” Ball says as she introduces the singer.

Carey then reluctantly responds, almost embarrassingly, saying she did not create the name.

“Can I just say that I did not create the title or the moniker, ‘Queen of Christmas,” Carey responds. “I did not do that. That was other people, and I just want to humbly say I don’t consider myself that.

“I’m someone that loves Christmas [and] happened to be blessed to write ‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ and a lot of other Christmas songs. And let’s face it: everybody’s faith is what it is, but to me, Mary is the Queen of Christmas.”

Listen to Carey explain at the podcast’s 4:31 mark.

Multiple reports say Carey is an Episcopalian.

While some of her actions do not line up with Catholic Church teaching, let us thank God for her humility in raising up Our Lady as the true Queen of Christmas!

Our Lady, Queen of the Universe, please pray for us!
