There’s a first time for everything – even in the Catholic Church!
The Diocese of Rockford, IL just released an unusual video: a “carpool karaoke” video featuring none other than their bishop, Bishop David Malloy!
The idea of the “carpool karaoke” was popularized by The Late Late Show with James Corden on CBS. It involves the host, Corden, picking up some celebrity in his car and having a casual conversation interspersed with them singing along to songs playing through the car’s stereo system. For example, the most viewed carpool karaoke episode on YouTube features the singer Adele, which you can watch here. Other episodes feature celebrities like Justin Bieber, One Direction, Selena Gomez, and even First Lady Michelle Obama.
Generally speaking, it’s just a good deal of clean fun (though not always, so be warned!).
The Diocese of Rockford’s version mostly features two of their priests, but the bishop shows up part way through (at 3:50):
