On June 4th, several popular music artists performed in One Love Manchester, a concert to benefit the families affected by the Manchester bombing terrorist attack that claimed the lives of 23 people at an Ariana Grande concert. Among the performers were Ariana Grande, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, and Justin Bieber
At the end of his performance, Bieber did something unusual: he reassured the crowd of God’s goodness.
“God is good in the midst of the darkness,” he told the crowd. “God is good in the midst of the evil. God is in the midst, no matter what’s happening in the world, God is in the midst. And he loves you. And he’s here for you.”
He also said he wanted to honor the people who were lost, calling on the crowd to raise their hands and say with him, “We honor you, and we love you!”
Bieber grew up in a Christian family and has previously publicly identified as a Christian, saying he prays regularly. However, it’s not clear what his current religious beliefs and practices are.
