This is amazing news! 🎉
After generating over $2 million in box office sales on June 4, 5, and 6, "Jesus Thirsts: The Miracle of the Eucharist" added two more theatrical dates.
According to a Fathom Events press release, the film landed "at #1 in per screen average for all three days" it showed in early June.
"Jesus Thirsts" also became Fathom's highest-grossing documentary of 2024 and is "in second place for all documentaries released in 2024."
The film's encore dates are June 18-26.
The documentary “takes viewers on a global journey to uncover the transformative power of the Eucharist. Through discussions with Catholic leaders and heartfelt personal narratives, the film unveils the Eucharist as Jesus Christ Himself, eagerly desiring to fulfill our spiritual thirst with His boundless love.”
ChurchPOP covered several stories from the film, including the largest Eucharistic monstrance in the world, the stories behind cast member Oscar Delgado's Archbishop Fulton Sheen and Saint John Paul II relics, and producer and cast member Jim Wahlberg's experience making the documentary. We also followed many cast members at the red carpet premiere.
Additional cast members include Father Donald Calloway, MIC, Father Chris Alar, MIC, the Sisters of Life, Scott Hahn, Father Charbel Grbavac of the Norbertine Fathers, Father Robert Spitzer, SJ, Teresa Tomeo, and more.
"'Jesus Thirsts' reminds us why we're Catholic, and how much God loves us," Catholic speaker, author, and cast member Chris Stefanick told ChurchPOP. "That might sound like an overly simplistic review, but is anything more important?"
Executive Producer Deacon Steve Greco expressed gratitude to those who supported the film. He encouraged movie-goers "to show up again and with others."
“My greatest hope for this film has been and continues to be winning souls for Jesus Christ,” Executive Producer Deacon Steve Greco said. "To those who have experienced the power of this movie, I implore you to be a Eucharistic evangelist for our film as we encore with added dates June 18 and 19!”
Producer Jim Wahlberg also commented on the overwhelming support for the film. He said the movie had a "profound impact" on viewers and encouraged them to "get outside of the pew and lead our fallen away brothers and sisters home."
“The feedback has been incredible. We have heard about packed theaters, minds and hearts deeply moved, and an urgency to tell others," Wahlberg said. "The surge of posts on social media has moved like wildfire and we hope this leads to many who will become curious."
Social media users flooded the comment sections for the film. They expressed gratitude for the documentary and excitement for the upcoming theater dates.
Instagram user Jade Martinez said she and her daughter "felt so inspired and blessed to be Catholic" after watching "Jesus Thirsts."
