The Church has long considered the Rosary a powerful tool against evil.
“The Rosary is more than 50 beads of mindless repetition. It holds within it the very power of God, the power of the entire Gospel," Hartfiel says.
As a spiritual weapon, the Rosary is rooted in deep contemplation of the life, death, and resurrection of Christ.
“One, it's a weapon of intercession where we literally fight and bind the evil one. Second, its contemplative side, in essence, is the reason for the power," Hartfiel explains.
By meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary, we begin to equip ourselves to combat the spiritual darkness in our lives.
Great saints throughout history have also consistently recognized the Rosary as crucial for battling Satan and sin.
“When you pray the rosary daily, you go through His [Jesus'] entire life—you go through all of salvation history every week...You go through His birth, [and] Our Lady's 'yes,’ just like the saints did," Hartfiel says.
By offering the Rosary for loved ones, we have the opportunity to extend that immense spiritual benefit to them.
Hartfiel says he is ”more and more convicted that I need to provide the spiritual armor—I need to provide the protection.”
