We love Sister Jean! 🙌

The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon announced on March 18 that doctors cleared Loyola University Chicago chaplain and 101-year-old nun Sister Jean Dolores-Schmidt to attend this year’s March Madness game.

(The nun could not attend the earlier season games due to the Covid-19 pandemic.)

After every game, the nun and chaplain sends the players emails with encouragement and pointers for the next game. She scouts out their upcoming opponents and gives them advice on what to look out for.

But most of all, she prays with the team before every game.

Fallon said he “loves Sister Jean” and “she’s Loyola’s most beloved fan.”

The Loyola-Chicago Ramblers defeated the Illinois Fighting Illini 71-58 during the March 23 game, with Sister Jean attending and offering the pre-game prayer.

Her prayer reads, “As we play the fighting Illini, we ask for special help to overcome this team and get a great win. We hope to score early and make our opponents nervous. We have a great opportunity to convert rebounds as this team makes about 50 percent of layups and 30 percent of its points. Our defense can take care of that…”

The Lord granted Sister Jean’s prayer!

CBS Sports reported that the “prayer called for Loyola to hold Illinois under 30 percent from the three-point range and you better believe it happened.”
