On this episode of "The Catholic Talk Show," Ryan Scheel and Ryan DellaCrosse join author Charles Fraune to discuss Biblical and Church teachings on Satan and his demons.
They explain the nature of demonic power, why demons exist, and our strongest defense against them!
Demons, once angels, made a conscious and irrevocable decision to reject God. They are forever marked by that choice, now existing only to oppose God’s kingdom.
“They may be powerful, but the Catechism reminds us that even our Guardian Angels are stronger when we stay united to Christ and His Grace,” Fraune says.
While demons can be frightening, their power is not unlimited, especially for people who stay grounded in the faith.
"Demons are more of a witness to us of the folly of pride. They’re the opposite of the saints, teaching by negative example," Fraune says.
He points to the Catechism, which says that although demons can cause spiritual and physical harm, their influence is only as strong as God allows—and nothing compared to His power.
“It is a great mystery that providence should permit diabolical activity, but ‘we know that in everything God works for good with those who love him.’” - Catechism of the Catholic Church, 395
Fraune encourages you to lean into traditional Catholic practices like prayer, the Rosary, and sacramentals for spiritual protection.
“A good devotional life is super powerful and supernatural," he says.
He says a crucifix, holy water, and the Saint Michael prayer are “enough to block all diabolical activity.”
These small acts, done in faith, hold profound power against evil and are accessible to all who sincerely seek God’s protection.
