We all suffer trials and tribulations, and sometimes, it can feel as if God doesn’t hear us or isn’t listening.
But God always hears us, and he sometimes reveals himself in unexpected ways.
In a recent interview with CBS News, country music star Carrie Underwood discussed the trials she endured over the past two years. On top of a terrible face injury resulting in at least 40 stitches, she miscarried three babies in the course of a year.

While trying to hold back tears, the country music star said, “We got pregnant in early 2017, and it didn’t work out.”
She continued, “We said, ‘God, we know this just wasn’t your timing, and that is alright. We will bounce back, and figure out way through it.'”
She then explained that she got pregnant both in the spring of 2017 and in early 2018, miscarrying both babies.
She said, “At that point, it was just kind of like, ‘Okay, what’s the deal? What is all of this?'”
“I would literally have all these horrible things going on in my life and then have to go smile and do some interviews or a photoshoot.”
“I’d always be afraid to be angry, because we are so blessed. My son Isaiah is the sweetest thing, and he’s the best thing in the world. If we can never have any other kids, that’s okay, because he is amazing. And I have this amazing life…Can I be mad? No. And I got mad.”
Then she revealed that when her husband away one night, she thought she was having another miscarriage. She snuggled with her sleeping son, and “prayed like never before.”
“I don’t know how I didn’t wake him up, but I was just sobbing. Why on earth do I keep getting pregnant if I can’t have a kid? What is this?…Either shut the door or let me have a kid.”
“For the first time, I feel like I told God exactly how I felt–and I feel like we’re supposed to do that.”
She then explained that this prayer occurred on a Saturday, and she had a doctor’s appointment the next Monday. She expected to confirm another miscarriage, but instead found out she was carrying a healthy baby.
With tears streaming down her face, she continued, “He heard me. Not that he hasn’t in the past, but maybe…I don’t know…He heard me.”
Here’s a photo of her growing baby bump:
How miraculous! God is such a wonderful author of life!
Twitter users are reacting to the news of her miscarriages, both with prayers and sympathy.
This twitter user said, “It truly breaks my heart listening to Carrie Underwood talk about her multiple miscarriages and the reason behind why she wrote the song “Cry Pretty.” But it’s amazing what our God can do to a heart that is going through something like that.”
Another user said, “Having gone through three miscarriages in a year myself, I want to give @carrieunderwood the biggest hug! Sending all of the prayers to her sweet family.”
As Saint Catherine of Siena said, “Nothing great is ever achieved without much enduring.”
Let us pray for all women who suffer miscarriages. They are not alone!
St. Catherine of Siena, pray for us!
