The Hollywood world can be a challenge for anyone trying to maintain their faith and integrity, but for Catholic actor Alex Dee, it’s a test that brought him closer to God!
In an episode of "The Catholic Gentleman," Catholic actor Alex Dee shares his journey from Hollywood to faith-driven storytelling in Vermont, shedding light on the moral dilemmas he faces and his commitment to his faith.
Dee's journey began in Los Angeles, where he pursued acting and encountered roles and projects that often conflicted with his faith.
"The content that was being turned out...there's so much out there that's just garbage," Dee says.
Dee explains how he navigates the challenges of mainstream Hollywood while upholding his values: "If my parents can't watch it, then I don't want to be in it.”
Dee’s passion for storytelling collides with his love for his faith. He is deeply inspired by the work of J.R.R. Tolkien, a devout Catholic.
"Growing up on Lord of the Rings and learning about Tolkien and his faith and how it was infused into the story really inspired me," he says.
This inspiration led Dee away from Hollywood to create content that mirrors his faith.
The result of this shift in focus is "Saints Alive," an audio drama series inspired by the lives of saints. Born from his mother's suggestion and a desire for wholesome content for his child, Alex combines his talents and his faith.
"The stories of the Saints are amazing; they're epic stories," he says.
His dedication to faith-driven storytelling aims to touch hearts and bring others closer to Christ.
"The theology of the Church is so beautiful and powerful once it hits your heart," he says.
Through his unwavering commitment to his faith and dedication to his work, Alex shows how one can stay true to their beliefs in any industry. "He’s on a mission to inspire the next generation of saints. That's you and [me]," Heinen says.
His story is truly an inspiration for all to stay true to their faith, regardless of their field of work!
