Dolly Parton's Warning to Sabrina Carpenter Before Recording Duet: ‘I Don’t Make Fun of Jesus’
Country singer Dolly Parton and pop singer Sabrina Carpenter collaborated on a new version of Carpenter’s song, “Please, Please, Please."
However, before Parton agreed to the duet, she had a few conditions for Carpenter, most of which involved respecting the Lord.
"Of course, she can talk a little bad now and then. I told her, 'I said, now, I don't cuss. I don't make fun of Jesus. I don't talk bad about God, and I don't say dirty words on camera, but known to if I get mad enough,'" Parton told Knox News.
Carpenter’s original “Please, Please, Please” lyrics included profanity. However, the new version with Dolly Parton removes the “dirty words.”
Sabrina Carpenter Controversy
Catholics blasted Carpenter for the October 2023 release of her provocative music video, “Feather,” which she filmed inside Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Brooklyn, New York.
In the video, Carpenter wears a black veil and a short dress while dancing provocatively inside the church and near the altar. Bishop Robert Brennen celebrated a Mass of Reparation on Nov. 4, 2023, in response to this desecration. Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church parish priest Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello has since been removed.
Dolly Parton’s Christian Faith
Parton is an unashamed Christian and openly speaks about her faith.
Dolly Parton told Fox News in 2023:
"My faith impacts everything that I do because I do believe that, through God, all things are possible. And so I always ask God to bless everything that I do and the people that I work with and to bring all the right things and right people into my life and to take the wrong ones out.
“So, I try to just live through love as much as I can. And so I just think that my spirituality has been a guiding light in my life and my strength, really, in my creative energy. And my spiritual energy has really been a great force to keep me going all these years and still being productive."
