The Assumption of Mary – when she was raised by God, body and soul, into heaven at the end of her earthly life – is a historical fact.
So then do we know when it happened?
Pope Pius XII taught dogmatically that it happened but didn’t say when it happened exactly. But that doesn’t mean we can’t get a pretty good idea by putting together all the available evidence.
And that’s exactly what Taylor Marshall does for the New St. Thomas Institute. He considers all the evidence from the Bible and from tradition, and here’s the year he comes up with: A.D. 63.
