Crowd Goes Wild After Seeing Nuns on Big Screen at NHL Hockey Game in Viral Video
If you've ever been to an American sporting event—or watched a video of it online—you've probably seen some hilarious moments come from the audience's antics on the big screen. This time, these young nuns were the stars of the night!
The moment happened on Tues., Jan. 7, 2024, during a game between the Detroit Red Wings, a professional ice hockey team, and the Ottawa Senators. The video was shared on the social media accounts of the Chaldean Diocese of Saint Thomas.
The Chaldean Catholic Church is one of the Eastern Rite churches in full communion with the Pope in Rome, sharing the same core beliefs as Roman Catholicism but retaining its practices, rituals, and traditions.
The Chaldeans belong to the broader Syriac Christian tradition and trace their origins to ancient Mesopotamia, which is present-day Iraq, where they have historically resided.
"Couple of our Chaldean Sisters Daughters of Mary Immaculate at the Red Wings game today! Beautiful capture of their joy, smiles, and laughter!" the post reads.
In the video, two nuns appear on the big screen, sparking excitement among the crowd. When other individuals were shown, the audience responded with murmurs of discontent, only for the energy to shift to enthusiastic applause and cheers each time the nuns reappeared. The young nuns can be seen laughing and shyly trying to conceal their embarrassment at being the center of attention.
The video has touched hearts on social media and has already generated over 2.5 million views.
In the Instagram comments, user Loushamm claimed to have been at the game and said,
"They probably showed them on the big screen about 14 times during the entire game, and every time the camera was on them the crowd cheered."
