Was it blood? 🤔
The Archdiocese of Denver answered this question when they released the results of a chemical analysis performed on a St. Michael statue allegedly oozing blood.
Colorado resident Alicia Martinez claimed her 30-inch statue of St. Michael the Archangel began oozing a dark red substance just before Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24.
St. Michael the Archangel is the patron saint of Kyiv, Ukraine.

Martinez said her roommate discovered the allegedly bleeding statue. She described the incident as “beautiful” and an “inexplicable sensation.”
“This is not fraud. This is not to become famous,” she told CNA. “I know it’s something divine from God that doesn’t happen to everyone.”

Unfortunately, however, the substance was not blood.
The Archdiocese of Denver performed a chemical analysis, stating the substance “was similar to red nail polish.”
“A chemical analysis was conducted of the dried liquid on the cotton swabs using the Kastle-Meyer method for presumptive positive blood samples,” the archdiocese said.

“The test definitively showed that the red liquid obtained from the statue was neither human nor animal blood. The appearance of the substance on the cotton swabs was similar to red nail polish.”
The archdiocese concluded the statement encouraging the faithful to “exercise prudence” before “becoming involved with unapproved apparitions or alleged miracles.”
