L.A. Dodgers to Honor Blasphemous Activist "Nuns" & Catholics Express Outrage
Catholics are outraged after news surfaced that the L.A. Dodgers baseball team will move forward with the Community Hero Award to the anti-Catholic LGBTQ+ drag queen group, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
The Dodgers initially reversed the decision to present the award after intense backlash. However, they once again decided to honor the blasphemous activist group on June 16 for Pride Month, also this year's Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
“After much thoughtful feedback from our diverse communities, honest conversations within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, and generous discussions with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Los Angeles Dodgers would like to offer our sincerest apologies to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and their friends and families,” the statement reads.
“We have asked the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to take their place on the field at our 10th annual LGBTQ+ Pride Night on June 16th. We are pleased to share that they have agreed to receive the gratitude of our collective communities for the lifesaving work that they have done tirelessly for decades.”
Catholics and non-Catholic Christians express outrage across social media platforms.
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles issued a statement and tweeted, "The Archdiocese calls on all Catholics and people of goodwill to stand against bigotry and hate in any form and to stand for respect for one another and for religious beliefs of our communities of faith."
San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone tweeted, "Our Catholic sisters devote themselves to serving others selflessly. Decent people would not mock and blaspheme them. So we now know what gods the Dodger admin worships. Open desecration and anti-Catholicism are not disqualifying. Disappointing, but not surprising. Gird your loins."
Catholic Florida Senator Marco Rubio tweeted, "Shamefully, (but not surprisingly) the Dodgers have been bullied into apologizing to and 're-inviting' a group of anti-Catholic bigots. Today our great country is controlled by socio-political ruling elites who don’t just tolerate anti-Christian bigotry, they encourage and celebrate it."
Catholic War Veterans of the United States of America's Facebook page also responded, "The LA Dodgers promote anti-Catholic bigotry. What a hateful organization."
L.A. native and painter Tony Pro wrote, "Really Clayton Kershaw? You’re a Christian man and your organization is pulling this stunt? Pathetic…"
Facebook user Ron Sumcizk added, "How sad that the 'City of Angels' gave into the leftist pressure and re-invited a group that is so offensive to all Catholics."
"It's ok to say offensive comments about people of faith, but run for the hills if you say offensive comments against any of the new trends that are pushed by the liberal agenda," Sumcizk continued. "Diversity and Inclusion work only in one direction."
Many users also responded to a CatholicVote post asking how they feel about the Dodgers "honoring anti-Catholic hate."
Students for Life President Kristan Hawkins responded, "Disgusting."
Instagram user Steffany said, "This is so hard to watch. I feel like within these last few months, we have especially seen the downfall of humanity and a realistic end-of-the-tunnel toward the coming of Christ. I'm heartbroken for them."
Instagram user Alex Winchester also said, "How could anyone think this is okay? Even if you’re not religious, there’s no way you can look at this and not be disgusted."
Another Instagram user wrote, "If anyone needed an explicit visual definition of sacrilege and blasphemy, it’s right here. It’s pure evil."
The Fatima Angel's Prayer of Reparation
O Most Holy Trinity,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
I adore Thee profoundly.
I offer Thee the most precious
Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ
present in all the tabernacles of the world,
in reparation for the outrages,
sacrileges, and indifferences
by which He is offended.
By the infinite merits
of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
and the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
I beg the conversion of poor sinners.
Amen.
