Pray for Simone Biles!
Olympic gold medalist and Simone Biles proclaimed support for abortion in a recent Instagram post after inviting her followers to share their “unpopular opinions.”
Biles, who is a professed Catholic, said in previous interviews that she prays the rosary, regularly lights a candle to St. Sebastian (patron saint of athletes), and attends Sunday Mass.
However, after one user said, “abortion is wrong,” the 24-year-old gymnast took this opportunity to share her views on abortion.
Here’s her response below:
Biles’ response reads, “I already know this is going to start the biggest argument and may even lose followers. BUT. / I’m very much pro-choice. Your body. Your choice.”
“Also, for everyone gonna say ‘just put it up for adoption.’ It’s not that easy and coming from someone who was in the foster care system, trust me. / Foster care system is broken and it’s tough. Especially on the kids and young adults who age out.
“And adoption is expensive…I’m just saying.”
Biles later posted tweets elaborating on Instagram post.
Here’s one tweet below:
Her tweet reads, “DO NOT misconstrue my words. That is not at all what I implied. I did NOT say I support to abort rather than to put them through the foster care system. What I did imply is that you should not control someone else’s body/decision. Let’s be real what you care about is control…”
Biles’ comments are completely contrary to the faith that she professes, as abortion is intrinsically evil, according to Catholic Church teaching.
Catholic Church teaching on abortion:
“Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person – among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2270)
“Since the first century, the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law…” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2271)
Pray for the conversion of all abortion supporters!
