What a time to be alive.
You may not have thought you’d live to see the day, but it has nonetheless finally arrived: you can now search the Bible using emoji!
Bible Gateway let’s you search the Bible in tons of different translations and languages and claims to be the Internet’s most visited Christian site. Now you can use 330 different emoji to search more than 50 different English translations.
“We’re not changing any words in the text of the Bible–we’re simply letting people search using emoji that they type themselves,” explains Stephen Smith, Senior Director for Digital Products for Bible Gateway.
The easiest way to search with emoji is with the built-in emoji in your smartphone keyboards.
But if you’re on a desktop or laptop computer and want to give it a try, here’s what you can do:
1) Highlight and copy this praying emoji: 🙏
2) Go to biblegateway.com
3) Paste the emoji in the search bar and click “Search”
Voilà, you just searched with an emoji!
You’ll notice in the search results that the website simply recognized the 🙏 as the praying emoji, and so you really just searched for the word “pray”.
