This is so touching.
In a video going viral around the world (you can watch it below), a boy with down syndrome comes up to an actor playing Jesus in a Viacrucis (Way of the Cross) procession in Mexico to comfort him.
The procession took place on Good Friday of this year (March 30th, 2018) in Monclova, Mexico, and the boy’s name is Juan Pablo.
“What does a child with a green soccer shirt do at the scene of a Viacrucis in Monclova?” the video’s description says in Spanish on Facebook. “Remind us of the most sublime love, that of caring for others with mercy! His innocence, his overflowing love, and his down syndrome challenge us today. Juan Pablo is his name, which should be synonymous with good hope. Let’s teach our children to be more compassionate.”
As of this writing, the video has over 3.2 million views, 35k reactions, and 77k shares.
Standing up for people with down syndrome has become a focus of the pro-life movement in recent years, since so many children (upwards of 90% in some places) diagnosed with down syndrome before they are born are aborted. The Church teaches that all human beings are made in the image of God, have inherent value, and therefore should be protected, loved, and cared for.
