The 14th annual Walk for Life West Coast is quickly approaching and organizers are gearing up for a huge crowd and several exciting new speakers. On Saturday, January 27, 2018, people will travel from all over the West Coast to San Francisco to come together to deliver an important message: women deserve better than abortion, and there are people who are willing to help them choose life.
Speakers include Joe Scheidler, who will be honored with the 2018 Gianna Molla Award. Mr. Scheidler has been fighting for the rights of the unborn even before the infamous Roe v. Wade decision.
After working for other pro-life organizations for several years, Joe founded the Pro-Life Action League to serve the need he saw for pro-life Americans to take bold, direct action to save babies from abortion in their own communities. His 1985 pro-life activists manual, “CLOSED: 99 Ways to Stop Abortion”, put pro-lifers throughout the United States and the world to work effectively fighting abortion.
Mr. Scheidler can fairly be described as one of the grandfathers of the American pro-life movement, an inspiration for generations of pro-life activists who have followed.
Terry Beatley, founder of the Hosea Initiative, will also be speaking at the Rally. The Hosea Initiative is a non-profit organization which teaches the impact of worldview through the pro-life conversion story of Dr. Bernard Nathanson. Dr. Nathanson, a former abortionist and co-founder of NARAL, asked Terry to make Americans aware of the “8-point strategy of deceit” used by the abortion industry. Fulfilling the promise made to Dr. Nathansan and using the power of story-telling, Hosea Initiative teaches a broader understanding of the abortion industry’s exploitation of women and children.
Another powerful speaker at this year’s rally is John Bruchalski, M.D. Motivated by a desire to become what he then perceived as being the best possible physician, Dr. Bruchalski performed abortions during his residency. Gradually, he realized that abortion actually harmed women.
After a spiritual awakening, he returned to the Catholic faith of his youth and felt God’s call to start a medical practice that truly helped women. In 1994, Dr. Bruchalski founded Tepeyac in Fairfax, VA, offering, in addition to excellent medicine, a faith-based welcome to women regardless of belief, background, or financial situation.
Rev. Clenard Childress, Jr., the founder of the website BlackGenocide.org, will be returning as a speaker at the 2018 Walk for Life. This website was designed to reach the Afro-American Community with the truth about abortion.
The 2018 Walk for Life West Coast will begin at 12:30 PM with a rally in the city’s Civic Center Plaza. Following the rally, participants will walk down Market Street to Justin Herman Plaza.
Founded in 2005 by a group of San Francisco Bay Area residents, the Walk for Life West Coast’s mission is to change the perceptions of a society that thinks abortion is an answer.
