"After School Satan" Programs Coming to Elementary Schools This Fall
This is not fake news.
The U.S. activist organization The Satanic Temple has created an after school program called “After School Satan” which they would like to launch at elementary schools across the country this fall.
With the motto “Educatin’ With Satan,” the program has a sleek website, an illustrated The Satanic Children’s Big Book of Activities, and a strange (to say the least) promotional video:
Does that look like something you’d want to send your kids to?
“[T]he group’s plan for public schoolchildren isn’t actually about promoting worship of the devil,” the Washington Post reports. “The Satanic Temple doesn’t espouse a belief in the existence of a supernatural being that other religions identify solemnly as Satan, or Lucifer, or Beelzebub. The Temple rejects all forms of supernaturalism and is committed to the view that scientific rationality provides the best measure of reality.”
The program’s website explains that the program is a response to Christian programs common throughout the country. “The Satanic Temple does not advocate for religion in schools. However, once religion invades schools, as The Good News Clubs have, The Satanic Temple will fight to ensure that plurality and true religious liberty are respected.”
The group is currently seeking approval to hold their after school program on school property across the country, hoping to launch this fall. According to this list on their website, it appears they’ve already launched in 9 cities.
Here’s what some more of their promotional material looks like:
