5 Great Reasons Catholics Should Be Generous on #GivingTuesday
#GivingTuesday is right around the corner (Dec. 1) and with it comes #iGiveCatholic, a yearly crowdfunding event.
It’s the perfect day to support your favorite Catholic parishes, schools and ministries!
Here are five reasons to donate through #iGiveCatholic on #GivingTuesday:
1) It’s easy.
Admit it. The longer it takes for you to find something online, the more frustrated you get. The #iGiveCatholic website allows you to search nearly 2,500 participating parishes, schools, and nonprofit ministries by name, diocese, location, or cause.
2) Mother Teresa said you should.
Well, technically she didn’t. What she said was, “Find your own Calcutta.” By that, she meant you don’t have to travel far or give to charities on the other side of the world in order to make a big difference in someone’s life.
#iGiveCatholic is your way of finding your Calcutta.
3) It feels good!
Knowing we help someone brings us joy. From seminarians in Alaska to homeless shelters in Mississippi, to schools in Kansas, you can find a cause that’s close to home or something new to support.
4) It works.
Last year, #iGiveCatholic raised $7.4 million. As a result, Catholic college students in Louisiana built a perpetual adoration chapel at their student center. And the smallest Catholic school in the Diocese of Nashville also raised money to build new educational resources for their students. There’s so much you can do through #iGiveCatholic!
5) Being Catholic is awesome.
#iGiveCatholic is a way for us to come together and give back to the people and organizations that make us proud to be Catholic.
