How can men protect their wives beyond physical strength?
On this episode of “The Catholic Gentleman,” John Heinen, Sam Guzman, and Devin Schadt discuss three ways men can cherish their wives!
1) Use Emotional Stability as a Shield.
When men manage their emotions effectively, they create a safe space for their wives.
“We need to protect our wives from our personal war that we wage on ourselves," Schadt says
By shielding them from stresses and frustrations in a healthy way, men can foster a more supportive marriage by ensuring they feel secure.
2) Be a Consistent Presence.
A calm presence during times of distress can be incredibly reassuring.
"Life is filled with struggles with anxieties, if I had been like, 'Oh my goodness, this is so inconvenient,' I would have made her anxiety go through the roof," Guzman says.
This consistency acts as a pillar of strength to lean on for greater confidence and peace when navigating difficulties together.
3) Show Tenderness as a Virtue.
Being attentive to needs, having empathy, and offering genuine support are powerful virtues.
“Women want our emotional strength," Devin says. "Does it mean that we just shut down and we are the cold guy who's super resilient and we just have no emotions? No. But it does mean that our emotions are well regulated.”
The gentlemen say embracing these aspects of strength are great ways to transform a Catholic marriage!

"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her to sanctify her, cleansing her by the bath of water with the word,
that he might present to himself the church in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish." (Ephesians 5: 25-27)
