Does the Bible have humor? Absolutely – it's heavenly! 😆

In this episode of "The Catholic Talk Show," Ryan Scheel and Ryan Dellacrosse discuss some of the Bible's funniest and most humorous parts.

From Paul's epic sermon to Elisha’s wild bear encounter, here are three moments guaranteed to make you laugh (or at least chuckle) while pondering God's Word!

1) Saint Paul's Marathon Homily in Acts

We’ve all been there – a homily that goes on a bit too long.

But in Acts 20, Paul takes preaching to the next level when a young man named Eutychus dozes off during Paul’s late-night homily, falls out of a third-story window, and dies!

Paul rushes down, miraculously brings him back to life, and then resumes preaching until dawn.

“I bet you if he was a parish priest, he’d be getting letters to the bishop saying, ‘This guy’s got to cut these homilies short because people are literally dying,’” Scheel jokes.

2) Solomon's Unique Compliments

When wooing his beloved in Song of Songs, Solomon uses some…interesting imagery.

“Your teeth are like flocks of shorn sheep, which ascend from the washing,” Solomon writes (4:2).

Imagine telling someone today: “Hey, your teeth look like freshly washed sheep!”

Cultural standards of romance have definitely changed since biblical times.

“Maybe there weren’t dentists back then, so complimenting teeth was a good route to go – but I think he went a little overboard!” Dellacrosse jokes.

3) Elisha's She-Bear Encounter

Beware of mocking prophets!

In 2 Kings 2, some youths tease Elisha, shouting, "Go away, baldy!"

Elisha calls down a curse in the Lord’s name. Cue two she-bears charging out of the woods and mauling 42 children.

Dellacrosse wonders, “What Elisha was doing after that – was he like, ‘See, you shouldn’t have done that’?”
