Social distancing. Quarantines. You can’t go out. All part of life with COVID19.

This is a great time to try an experiment with a Catholic meetup in virtual reality (or VR for short). We ran polls on Facebook and Twitter, and there seemed to be enough people with VR headsets and interest to make it happen, so we’re doing it!

The details

Day: This Saturday, March 28

Time: 1 – 2 PM US eastern time

Where: Altspace

Altspace Event Link: Click here

Cost: FREE

Please RSVP: EventBrite – only 30 spots!

How to attend

The best way to attend is using a VR headset like the Oculus Quest, Oculus Rift, Oculus Go, or HTC Vive. If you have one of those, download the app Altspace in your headset’s app store, and then either use the event link above to find the event, or just look it up listed among other public events for that day and time.

If you don’t have a VR headset, you still might be able to attend! Altspace has a Windows-only (sorry Mac users) desktop app that you can download for free in the Windows Store or on the gaming platform Steam.

And if you plan on coming, please RSVP!

What we’ll be doing

It’ll be a very casual event. ChurchPOP founder and editor-in-chief Brantly Millegan will be there and may share some stories about the early beginnings of ChurchPOP. We’ll say some prayers for the end of the COVID19 pandemic. People will be able to chat, shoot some hoops, have a snow ball fight, and just have some fun connecting with fellow Catholics in the VR world.

Here’s what the stage looks like:

Please help spread the word, and hope to see you there!
