What a powerful interview!

Pastor and evangelist Greg Laurie tweeted a powerful clip from a 2006 interview with Kobe Bryant.

Bryant experienced difficult times after a 2003 sexual assault allegation. The charges were eventually dropped and settled out of court.

The full tweet reads, “Kobe Bryant from an interview in 2006- ‘Until you got to pick up that cross that you can’t carry, and He picks it up for you and carries you and the cross, then you know.'”

While the clip below does not specify the situation, Bryant credits Christ for carrying him through those difficult trials.

Here’s the clip below:

The interviewer asks, “What did you learn from that whole experience? Just having to go through what you went through?”

Bryant responds, “God is great.”

The interviewer then responds, “Is it that simple?”

Shrugging his shoulders, Bryant replies, “God is great. Don’t get no simpler than that, bro.”

The interviewer then asks, “Did you know that? I mean, everybody knows that, but the way you know it now–did you know it before that incident took place?”

Bryant emphasizes with additional clarity, “You can know it all you want, but until you’ve got to pick up that cross that you can’t carry, and He picks it up for you and carries you and the cross, then you know.”

Jesus, please help us to take up our crosses and follow you daily!
