This is really cool!

The Vatican recently launched and promoted an eRosary, a digital and wearable prayer aid activated by the Sign of the Cross. The official website describes the eRosary as “an innovative way to help you pray for peace in the world.”

The Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network launched the smart device as part of the Extraordinary Missionary Month, “celebrating the 100th anniversary of Pope Benedict XV’s Apostolic Letter Maximum Illud.”

About the eRosary

The water-resistant smart rosary bracelet, which also tracks health data, “consists of ten black agate and hematite beads and a neatly finished cross.”

It connects via bluetooth to both iOS and Android, syncing to the Click to Pray eRosary app. This app tracks the user’s rosary progress, offering several visual and audio meditation options: a standard rosary, contemplative rosary, or other thematic rosaries.

Some themes include Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si, as well as migrants and refugees, vocations, and young people. Vatican News reported that Click to Pray will update the thematic meditations yearly.

According to a Click to Pray press release, the eRosary “serves as a tool for learning how to pray the rosary.”

“Aimed at the peripheral frontiers of the digital world where the young people dwell, the Click To Pray eRosary serves as a technology-based pedagogy to teach the young how to pray the Rosary, how to pray it for peace, how to contemplate the Gospel.

“Therefore, this project brings together the best of the Church’s spiritual tradition and the latest advances of the technological world,” the press release said.

The Rosary is now available for purchase in the United States for $129.99

About Click to Pray & the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network

Pope Francis launched the eRosary as part of Click to Pray, an app encouraging prayer throughout the world.

The Click to Pray app is part of the Pope’s Worldwide Prayer Network, which “responds to the challenges confronting humanity and the Church’s mission as expressed in the Pope’s monthly intentions.

“In praying with these intentions, we extend our gaze onto the whole world and enter personally into the joys and hopes, the pains and sufferings of our brothers and sisters everywhere.”
