This is such a beautiful story! 😭😭😭

Fr. Goyo Hidalgo of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles posted a beautiful story about a man whose wife suffers from Alzheimer’s Disease.

The disease is a form of “dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Symptoms usually develop slowly and get worse over time, becoming severe enough to interfere with daily tasks.”

The story explained that the husband is “not sad” when she forgets him, but happy he “gets to remind her who I am every day,” because “she smiles as if it were the first time we fell in love.”

Wow! 😭

I get to remind her who I am everyday and then she smiles as if it were the first time we fell in love and I experience this EVERYDAY! I am so lucky.” / #Goals.”

Wow! Talk about a positive outlook! How beautiful!

This user commented, “I’ll never forget my last visit with my gramma, who died of Alzheimer’s. I fed her lunch and played something on the piano in the day room where she was staying. She never said a word, but when I said goodbye, she reached up and pinched my cheek like she used to. I’m not crying.”

This user added, “My Mom got dementia at 50. She thought my Dad was an imposter. But she pulled me aside and said she had fallen in love with him. Only my Dad could make her fall in love twice. Married 44yrs when she died at 60. Took care of her until the end. True love.”
