What were they thinking?
A video has been going viral online of a parish in Brazil using a quadcopter “drone” to carry in a monstrance containing the Eucharist (you can watch the video below).
The incident occurred at the parish of Sao Geraldo Magela in the Archdiocese of Sorocoba in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo. According to ACI Prensa, the bishop of the diocese has been informed of what happened and has taken steps to ensure it won’t happen again.
Many Catholics who have seen the video think the use of the quadcopter was inappropriate and a form of sacrilege towards the Eucharist.
The Catholic Church teaches that the Eucharist is really, truly, and substantially Jesus Christ, and thus should be treated with the utmost reverence and care.
