Cleanup for Hurricane Irma, one of the largest hurricanes in U.S. history, is going to take a lot of work and a long time.

Which is why this religious sister is jumping right in, doing whatever needs to be done.

Sister Margaret Ann was spotted by an off duty police officer, who took a video and a few pictures of her. The Miami-Dade police department shared the video and pictures on their Facebook page, and the post has gone hugely viral! As of this writing, the post has over 17,000 shares and 20,00 reactions.

The post reads: “One of our off duty officers was happy to find Sister Margaret Ann of Archbishop Coleman F. Carroll High School pitching in by cutting trees to clear the neighborhood roadways. As we recover from #HurricaneIrma, these acts of kindness remind us all that we are #OneCommunity in #MiamiDadeCounty! 🙏 Thank you Sister and all of our neighbors that are working together to get through this! #MiamiDadeStrong”.

Since then, the story of Sister Margaret Ann, who is a Carmelite and the principal of Archbishop Coleman F. Carroll High School in Miami, has appeared in media outlets such as NPR, CNN, ABC News, CBS News, The Guardian, and many others.

“The road was blocked, we couldn’t get through,” she told CNN in an interview. “And I saw somebody spin in the mud and almost go into a wall going off the road. And so there was a need, I had the means, so I wanted to help out.”

She continued: “We teach out students: do what you can to help. And so this was an opportunity where I could do something to help, and thanks be to God I was able to do it.”
