World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland is just around the corner! If you’re not one of the hundreds of thousands if not millions of people expected to attend (or even if you are), here’s one way you can participate from home: pray a special novena to St. John Paul II during the event!

Here’s why a novena to St. John Paul II makes sense:

(1) he’s the patron saint of WYD;

(2) he started WYD;

(3) WYD this year is in his native Poland. In fact, he was Archbishop of Krakow, the city where WYD is being held, before being elected pope.

If you start praying the novena on Saturday July 23rd, you’ll finish on the last day of WYD, July 31st!

This prayer initiative is being led by Devin Rose, the prolific Catholic blogger and successful author (not affiliated officially with WYD). More importantly, though, he’s the creator of the really great iPhone app for praying novenas, Pray: The Catholic Novena App.

The app is beautiful, intuitive, and really does make it much easier to pray novenas! If you wished you prayed more novenas, but don’t know where to find novena prayers or always find yourself forgetting, this app is for you.

So if you want to pray this novena along with tons of Catholics from around the world, just download the app!

Don’t have an iPhone or iPad (sorry, there’s no Android version yet) but still want to pray along with everyone else? You can find all the information you need about the novena on this website.

Pray for the success of WYD in Poland!
