“Dear young people of Poland,” Pope Francis says in a new video, “I know that for some time now you have been preparing, especially with your prayers, for this encounter in Krakow.”

He said he was looking forward to meeting them, “and to offer the world a new sign of harmony… united in the name of Jesus.”

He acknowledged the hardships in Poland’s recent history (from WWII and the Holocaust to Communist oppression), and commended them for having “persevered through the power of faith, upheld by the maternal hands of the Virgin Mary.”
