A statue of Mary in Fresno, CA is reportedly crying oily tears that smell like roses.

Maria Cardenas received the statue as Mother’s Day gift about 10 years ago. It started weeping, she says, about a year and a half ago after her cousin was murdered.

The tears have been witnessed by many, faithful and not alike, including journalists who visited the house (see the video at the end of this article). The tears are not, however, predictable. Cardenas says the statue has gone for weeks and even months without crying, but has always eventually started crying again.

Cardenas carefully collects the tears in a glass and shares them with people who visit.

A man who didn’t want to be identified, but who says he’s the caretaker of the statue, told a local reporter that they’ve invited clergy to investigate: “We’ve had priests come from all over to look at her, and all they say is that it’s a miracle.”

“We’re not hiding her, but at the same time, we don’t want anything to happen to her.”
