Are you building your life on the pillars of greatness?

On this episode of “The Catholic Gentleman,” John Heinen, Sam Guzman, and Devin Schadt discuss eight essential pillars every Catholic needs to achieve greatness in life!

Daily Devotions Bring You Closer to God

The foundation of an authentic Catholic life begins with a strong devotional life.

Sam explains that small, consistent devotional acts can have a bigger impact than you think. Whether it's prayer, scripture, or the Rosary, "devotion is those little practices that we're putting in our life day-by-day that are cultivating this flame in our hearts of love for God."

Sacrifice and Mortification Build Your Faith

Self-denial is not just about giving something up. When Catholics embrace fasting, mortifications, and other sacrifices, it makes room for God's plan in our lives.

Schadt says this helps us truly open our hearts to God, because "if you cannot say 'no' to your passions, then you cannot say 'yes' to God truly. You are a slave to your passions rather than being a slave to Christ. And when we're slaves to Christ, we're actually sons of Christ because He wants to empower us."

Maintain Your Body and Mind for the Holy Spirit

In order to do God’s will, we need to maintain our body and mind. Your health and well-being are important not just for yourself, but as an affirmation of being made with strength in God’s image.

"You are not your own, you were bought with a price; so glorify God in your body," Heinen says.

The gentlemen say living out the pillars of devotion, sacrifice, physical health, relationships and more will lead you to a great Catholic life!
